Anne studied Horticulture in Glasgow before setting up as
Anne Macfie Garden Design in 2002. It all started in 1993 when, having moved into a house with a wonderful garden (but high maintenance), she decided if she was to keep it looking good she better find out about the plants. Although a keen gardener she was not familiar with all the different plants and varieties and set about learning more about them as well as starting to propogate more plants in the large green house inherited with the house. Once her youngest child went to Primary school and she had a bit more time she decided to leave a career in Nursing to go and study Horticulture... and the rest is history as they say.
Anne strives to give all clients an individual garden to suit their specific needs and lifestyles. From initial consultation to final planting the process is given her undivided attention and she is always on hand to offer advice and add creativity for the most challenging gardens. She has worked on many different projects including traditional country style gardens, contemporary suburban gardens, courtyards and beer gardens.
Anne has appeared at The Ideal Home and Garden Show at the SECC in Glasgow, giving demonstrations in the Masterclass theatre, as a panellist for Gardeners' Question Time at the Glasgow Show, is a judge for the annual Rose Trials in Glasgow and at horticultural clubs in Scotland.
Anne writes regular articles for the horticultural magazines and gardening related publications and for GSPC magazine and Remax Property magazine and her gardens have featured in several Scottish magazines. She has taught at SAC in Ayr and Edinburgh on the Garden Design course and has been a guest on MacAuley and Co on BBC Radio Scotland.
