HARDWOOD DECK AND WHITE RENDERED PLANTING BEDS

After completing an extension to the house the garden is often decimated by the machinery and constant trampling of those working on the construction. Here the clients had been left with some general debris from the new building as well as some old features left by the previous owners.

The clients wanted some decking to lead out from the new kitchen/sun room in addition to another deck in the lower left corner to maximise the sun at other times of the day. Hardwood was used for the decking along with the addition of some large hardwood planters made for planting herbs and topiary.

A wrought iron pergola spans the path from the patio to the smaller deck. Climbers have been trained over the arches and with maturity will clothe the arch with colour and provide a scented walk through this part of the garden.

Long white rendered planting beds enclose the stone paving immediately outside the new extension and are an attractive feature from the kitchen and sun room.

A large elevated climbing deck was built (between the Plum and Cherry tree) for the children – giving them a play area whilst also being visible from both decks.

The fencing around the garden is constructed of dressed timber with areas where trellis has been attached for climbers to grow.
