This is a terraced garden behind a large conversion in Pollokshields. The clients lived on the ground floor and had a substantial part of the garden but because it was on a slope and the retaining walls were old it was barely used.

Although the garden was already terraced the walls were unsafe and had to be rebuilt. In addition I added a large patio, a lawn for the children and some planting suitable for the sloping terraced planting beds. On the lowest level of the garden was an old apple tree and I added a semi-circular seat around the trunk of the tree where you can sit and look up at the house and the rest of the garden.

The clients moved house the following year but are sure that the price they received for the house far exceeded their expectations and thought that was due to the garden. The Estate Agents devoted two full colour glossy pictures in the schedule on the garden alone. Having moved to their new house I have already redesigned their new front garden and plans are pending for the back garden.
