This is a summary of my services for your information to guide you through the different stages of the process and detail what is included in each stage.

 

 

My services can be divided in to 3 sections:

 

1.       Garden Design – the creative bit.

2.       Project management – the business bit

3.       Plants and Planting- the dirty, hands on bit

1. Garden Design

 

The Garden Design Fee covers:      

 

The site survey/analysis of the gardens. This includes all measurements, levels, soil samples, plant inventory, aspect and orientation and any specific features particular to this garden. 

All provisional drawings of the garden for discussion.

All visits to the house to discuss the drawings. This may take only one visit but includes up to four visits.

Presentation of full scale plan and drawings from which the contractors base their quote. This often includes specification and laying out drawings.

A list of suggested hard landscaping materials. These are suggested early on in the process and samples are brought to the property (if available) so that they can be discussed in more detail.

Specification documentation necessary for the construction.  This may be a detailed description of all that is required to be done by the contractors and forms the basis for the contractor’s quotes.

All associated time and related expenses e.g. petrol, photography, photocopying, artist materials etc

A separate complete planting plan for the garden with the plants marked, numbers and sizes indicated. A full inventory for the plants and supplements ready to send off to the Nursery for costing.  

The fee for this will be confirmed in writing after the initial consultation.

 

2. Project Liaison

In this stage I work with the contractors on your behalf so that you are free to go to work knowing I am keeping an eye on things. This makes sure that the garden is being built correctly and the integrity of the design is maintained. 

Project  liaison fees include:

A site visit with the contractors to talk them through the design and  specifications. There may be several contractors tendering for the job so this includes multiple visits.

All subsequent site visits during the construction phase to monitor the project. This also includes any requests from you (client) or the contractors if there are any queries or issues to address once the work has started.

All organisation of additional contractors if required and liaison with you regarding services or fees that they may charge. See Terms and Conditions.

General expenses to cover petrol, phone calls, photographic costs etc. 

The fee for this will be given after the initial consultation.

 

 

3.Plants and Planting

Once the planting plan has been done I can give you a quote to select the plants from the Nursery, deliver them and lay them out in the required position. The advantage of me making the selection at the Nursery is that if there are many plants of the same variety I will choose the best specimens available, or if they are unavailable then I can make an appropriate substitution.

I can also give you fixed costs for planting them too if required.

 

If you would like to be involved in the planting stage and only want me to supply and lay out the plants in the appropriate areas this can be arranged.

 

Alternatively you may prefer to work to the plan yourselves over a period of time as and when your budget allows.
